Grooming
Grooming Agreement
The full terms and conditions for a Pup Central grooming appointment.
1. Health & Safety
By signing this agreement, the client confirms:
- Their dog is fit and healthy for grooming.
- The dog is up to date with vaccinations appropriate for grooming environments.
- The dog has no known medical conditions that could make grooming unsafe (e.g., heart issues, seizures, skin infections).
- The groomer may refuse or stop a groom if the dog shows signs of stress, illness, aggression, or discomfort.
The client agrees to inform the groomer of any allergies, skin sensitivities, or medical conditions; any behavioural issues, including aggression, anxiety, or fear triggers; and any injuries, lumps, bumps, or areas the dog does not like being touched.
2. Coat Condition & Grooming Results
The client understands:
- Dogs with matting may require shaving or clipping shorter than desired to ensure the dog's welfare.
- Removing matting can expose pre-existing skin conditions, irritation, or sores.
- The groomer is not responsible for any after-effects of matting removal, including irritation, itchiness, or uneven coat growth.
- Additional fees may apply for severely matted coats due to extra time and equipment wear.
3. Behaviour & Safety
The client agrees:
- Dogs must be safely secured on arrival and collection.
- If a dog behaves aggressively or poses a safety risk, the groomer may stop the groom and charge for the time spent.
- Muzzles may be used only if necessary for safety, and always in a humane manner.
4. Medical Emergencies
If a dog becomes ill or injured during grooming:
- The groomer will take reasonable steps to contact the client immediately.
- If the client cannot be reached, the groomer may seek veterinary treatment at the nearest available practice.
- The client is responsible for all veterinary costs incurred.
5. Parasites
If fleas or other parasites are discovered:
- The groomer may administer a flea bath or appropriate treatment.
- An additional cleaning fee may be charged to disinfect the grooming area.
6. Photographs & Social Media
The client agrees that:
- The groomer may take before and after photos of the dog.
- Photos may be used for business promotion, including social media and websites.
- You can opt out of this on the request form (tick if you do NOT consent to photos being used publicly).
7. Payment & Cancellations
The client agrees:
- Payment is due on collection of the dog.
- Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice may incur a fee.
- Late collection may incur a late fee after a reasonable grace period.
8. Liability
The groomer will always act with care, professionalism, and the dog's welfare as the priority. However, the client understands:
- Grooming tools are sharp, and minor nicks or scratches can occur, especially with wiggly dogs or matted coats.
- The groomer is not liable for issues arising from pre-existing conditions, matting, or behaviour.
- The groomer is not responsible for any injury or damage caused by the dog on the premises.
